Dr. Christopher Morphew, Dean of Johns Hopkins School of Education and moderator Sarah K. Elfreth, Maryland State Senator, for a discussion of three evidence-based programs that evaluate young children's readiness for school and preschool and help parents in Maryland locate quality child care. The Kindergarten Readiness Assessment, the Preschool Learning Assessment, and the Maryland EXCELS are all assessments offered by the Johns Hopkins School of Education that benefit tens of thousands of Marylanders. These programs are a component of a wider system of tried-and-true approaches that helps all Maryland families find reliable child care and gets kids ready for kindergarten and first grade. These programs in Maryland give the information that teachers, policymakers, and parents need to make the best decisions for their children's early education.
