Session 3: Politics and Populism
Politics & Populism
•
1h 18m
Around the world, from Italy to Brazil, from Hungary to the United States, populist candidates and governments are fundamentally changing the political landscape. In this course, Yascha Mounk -- Senior Fellow at the SNF Agora Institute, and Associate Professor of the Practice at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies -- explores the nature of populism; investigate whether populism poses an existential threat to liberal democracy; explore the causes of the populist rise; and discuss what strategies might allow non-populist political actors to push back. He is joined by Sheri Berman, Arlie Hochschield, Martin Gurri, and Dani Rodrik. Visit www.jhu.edu/hopkinsathome to see more lectures and mini-courses.
