Altamar: The Next Decade's U.S. Security Challenges
International Relations • 59m
The U.S. is facing new and continued security challenges, and Altamar hosts Peter Schechter and Muni Jensen will take a deeper dive with John McLaughlin, former deputy CIA director and U.S. security expert.
Many of the new challenges center around relations with China, starting with Beijing's expanding influence in the developing world, China's security threats to Taiwan, and trade relations. But that's not all. There are new and heightened cyber challenges from Russia, political fractionalization and tribalism in the West, and continued insecurity in the Middle East surrounding Iran's nuclear program and recent U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
How does an America -- increasingly polarized and divided -- face these challenges? Are we looking at the end of the American Century, or can America overcome its internal division and present a united front?
