Healthcare & Medicine • 1h 30m
Recently, Johns Hopkins Medicine’s A Woman’s Journey conducted a national survey of more than 25,000 adults to identify the three COVID-19 issues that are of greatest concern and interest to consumers. The results — public health guidelines, vaccine safety and lingering COVID-19 effects — will be addressed during a powerful, virtual 90-minute live program featuring Johns Hopkins experts.
One Year Later, Lisa Maragakis, M.D., M.P.H.
Epidemiologist and infectious disease physician Lisa Maragakis addresses the development of strategies and therapeutics to improve treatment of patients with COVID-19, issues surrounding mutation of the virus, and the continued urgency of public health measures to mitigate the pandemic despite the introduction of vaccines.
Are the Vaccines Safe?, Anna Durbin, M.D.
What distinguishes the leading vaccine contenders in their methodology, safety and effectiveness? Immunologist Anna Durbin explains the novel messenger RNA technology, used to develop a vaccine for the first time in history. She also discusses Johns Hopkins’ role in evaluation of the Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines, and underscores the safety of these vaccines.
Lingering Effects of COVID, Emily Brigham, M.D., M.H.S.
During the past year, physicians have observed lingering deficits in physical function, mental health, and cognition among COVID-19 survivors. Pulmonologist Emily Brigham explores these symptoms and insights acquired from the Johns Hopkins Post-Acute COVID-19 Team (JH PACT) Clinic, one of the first such clinics in the U.S. dedicated to supporting the ongoing recovery of COVID-19 survivors.
