Artificial Intelligence: Reality vs Imagination
Engineering & Technology • 1h 3m
Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away….Movies like Star Wars and 2001 Space Odyssey showed us a future where droids are our partners, servants, and friends. Outside of the world on-screen, the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has overly promised and grossly under delivered for the last five decades, leading to AI springs and winters. In this presentation, Professor Rama Chellappa will present a balanced view of current state of AI development and what the future holds. Afterwards, Professor Chellappa will talk with Gary Whitta, a screenwriter known for his work on Rogue One, The Book of Eli, and After Earth, about how popular culture has interpreted intelligent machines - and how they differ from the reality.
