Extend the holiday spirit by whipping up some tasty winter desserts using recipes from the Women's Suffrage Movement! Join Heidi Herr and Christin Le (A&S '23) as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women's Suffrage one more time before ringing in the new year. Heidi will be your guide through history, while Christin leads you through baking a classic cookie with a twist - molasses chocolate chip cookies. We invite you to cook along with us - the ingredient list is below!
Molasses Chocolate Chip Cookie Ingredients
1 Cup Salted Butter
2 Cups Flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup dark molasses
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups dark chocolate chips
Sea salt for sprinkling onto cookies

Heidi Herr is the Outreach Librarian for Special Collections at the Johns Hopkins University. She creates programs and learning activities to engage students in conducting research with primary sources, including teaching courses on everything from fortune-telling ephemera to the development of the cookbook. She earned Master of Arts degrees in English and Library Science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Christin Le is a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University studying Public Health and Neuroscience from Orange, California. She is the founder of Lê Crumb Bakery, which donates 20% to Doctors Without Borders. Christin also works in several organizations, research institutions, and non-profits to promote equity, public health policy, and healthcare access as a junior investigator, regional director, and expert fellow.
